Our Story

From our workshop on Westray, one of the most northerly of the Orkney Islands, we continue to create a carefully curated range of knitted garments and home textiles.

Over the years, we’ve developed a signature style, drawing on the soft, muted tones and textures of our island skies, seas, and landscapes. Our Nordic influences continue to inspire the colours, shapes, and details of our products, while our use of natural and luxury yarns ensures each piece is as at home in city streets or cosy homes far from Orkney as it is on our windswept shores.

With the Westray shop now closed, we’ve taken the opportunity to expand our workshop—more space, more room to create, more time to focus on the craft and care behind every item. From our studio overlooking Pierowall Bay, just steps from the beach, we design and make each collection with passion and attention to detail.

We’re thrilled to welcome visitors to our Kirkwall shop, where you can browse a selection of our pieces and enjoy the Hume Sweet Hume experience in-person.
